PROJECT 4

April 14, 2009

For Project 4 I was interested in creating a cheap and easy comic book.

A few Manga comics inspired me.

In order to get the final images I utilized multiple methods and programs- Photoshoped/Illustratored/InDesigned/and Comic life.

For the printing, it was my goal to be able to make these kinds of books on the cheap and without the use of the high-end equip. of the DOC.

With the help of a printing wizard (no names) (thanks Suzi), an inkjet printer, and a photocopier I was able to create a very sharp looking pamphlet.

PROJECT 3

In the Illustrator project I was inspired to use specific arrangement of text, and explore a few aspects of color theory, while creating a poster and a logo with the Illustrator program.

Using a famous Latin Palindrome (Sator Square) for the body and arrangement of text, referencing Damien Hirst ‘ Spot paintings’ for color inspiration, and the humorous backwards N as a logo, I fashioned a poster that was cryptic in its intent.

PROJECT 2

With this project I’m exploring an interlaced concept of space and interaction.
Based around the imagery of an apartment building I wanted to visually explore the literal ‘crossing of paths’ between the residents.

I started with the use of the Photomatix HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography program. I was able to compress 5 shots all at different exposures into 1 HDR photograph.

Using the Photoshop program I manipulated and altered the image, reducing it down to a single strip of the original.

Utilizing the single strip (individual representation), and considering compositional elements I created an image of intersecting lines (interactions between individuals).

Mirroring this image 4 times came up with a completely different from the original yet symmetrical image that is representational of perspective and ending in an architectural representation of the original image.

It was a fun project.
